The Rolex Submariner is the quintessential dive watch and arguably the most recognizable watch among the general public. It's said that for every ten 5513 references made in the 1970s, only one of these 5512 was made. The 5512 was more elusive and expensive to produce due to two additional lines on the dial – “Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified” requiring additional chronometer testing. This “Meters First” rendition is even rarer, as the language shifted to feet first in 1970 to cater to the expanding US market.
