We started with a classic shawl neck cardigan as our inspiration but we didn’t stay there. This cut is shorter in the body, and a bit more tailored over-all. Merino wool with a dash of cashmere, washed for softness and added durability will make all the difference when cold comes. Cary Grant wore one, but this one’s better, more modern.

Found it! My search is over and I have found "The Sweater"

I had been searching for a reasonably priced chunky shawl neck cardigan for the last several years and this is it! I had looked to several of the usual Ivy League outfitters, and frankly their version of this style sweater is prohibitively priced. Buck Mason has produced "the sweater" for this time, whether you are working from home, walking around the corner to pick something up, or headed out on the town (should we ever have a place to go again) this sweater is soft enough from the get go, warm, stylish, looks great under a leather jacket, and is priced to make it a real value proposition. Fit wise, I needed to try it on to decide, I wear a medium in Buck Mason's tee's but could probably fill out a large, the Medium Sweater is comfy a little slouchy and fits great. I went to the store to try it on and the employees were friendly, helpful, and believe in the product. I highly recommend a visit to one of their stores it you can make the trip.

Great Sweater, Conflicting Care Instructions

Just received this sweater and one thing I noticed is that the website description says "Dry Clean Only". But the tag on the sweater says "Hand wash. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry. Do not iron. DO NOT DRY CLEAN. Lay flat to dry." So that is a bit confusing. Other than that the sweater is really soft and CHONKY. Definitely a relaxed fit. I am 5' 7" with an athletic build (42" chest and 32" waist) so I ordered a medium. The arms feel a bit long and the body is a bit more relaxed but thats what I wanted. If you want a slim or more fitted look I would recommend sizing down.
